Capitol Christmas Pageant

If you have never been to the Capitol Christmas Pageant, we suggest you mark your calendar for December 6, 2009. The Pageant is a beautiful Christmas concert set inside the Capitol Rotunda. Staging is assembled, by the club, up on the higher levels on the Friday evening before the event. In addition to building the stage, the club publicizes the event, coordinates the music directors and funds the entire enterprise. No small undertaking.

Then on Sunday, actors take the stage depicting the Nativity scene while high school music students sing and play traditional Christmas music around the base of the Christmas tree below. Families crowd around the railings trying to get a glimpse of the Angels and trumpeters high above while children delight in seeing Mary and Joseph in the manger.

With all of the talk of the “War on Christmas” it is nice to be a part of an event that still celebrates the true spirit of Christmas.
